Yapbox watches each person's mic and swaps their avatar. Talking, quiet, or gone to make a sandwich.

Three faces, one mic
It only has to answer one question.
Are you talking right now? It reads your mic in the browser and swaps to whichever of your three images fits. You set the sensitivity, you supply the art.

You're above your sensitivity threshold. Your open-mouth image shows and the tile lights up.

Setup
Three steps, then you forget it exists.
Make a room
You get an invite code and an overlay URL. Name the room after the bit, not the date, since you'll be reusing it.
Share the invite code
Everyone joins with the code and allows the mic prompt once. Their audio never leaves their machine. Yapbox only sends which face they're on.
Add the browser source in OBS
The URL belongs to you, not to the room, so it goes into OBS once and follows you into whatever room you're in next. Size the source to 1920 × 1080 to match your canvas, then let the alignment setting park the row where you want it.
Avatars resize to fill whatever the source is, so OBS's default 800 × 600 works too. Leave the background transparent and uncheck Shutdown source when not visible. The token is yours, so keep it out of the shot.
Graphics
Bring your own PNGs.
Three images per person is the whole spec: open, closed, idle. Art you already use for streaming drops straight in.
- PNG, WebP or JPEG, up to 2 MB each — big files get shrunk automatically
- Per person art, so a guest doesn't have to match your style
- Ignore Short Sounds keeps clicks and keyboard taps from flipping you to talking
- Nothing to install. It's a web page your OBS happens to be looking at.
